Tank Loaf 2011 Update

A couple of years ago we launched our "Tank Loaves" which have been just ticking away slowly...until now. It seems that 2011 is the year of the Tank at Elocin Foods. We have people walking in off the street on the off chance that there will be a spare Tank fresh out of the oven.

We have been asked for a wider range of flavours to complement the Milky White Tank (the current favourite), Bit of Buck Tank (was my favourite) and the Fruity Tank (a nice change from Fruit Buns).

Now we have added:

• Cheesy Tank ~ The same scrummy bread as the Milky White Tank with the added taste of cheesy with a pinch of peppers (cayenne & black). A real savoury treat.
• Seeded Tank ~  my new favourite. Made with the Bit of Buck dough with the addition of linseeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds & chia. All these seeds add loads of extra flavour and lots of nutritional goodness.
• Sourdough Tank ~ I have a sourdough starter growing and it is used to make this bread. Everytime the bread is made the flavour is slightly different, but that seems to be the nature of sourdough. I get updates on the developing flavour from the customers that enjoy this the most. A delicious dairy free white bread.

All the Tank Loaves freeze beautifully. They come unsliced so you will have to slice them before you freeze them. We leave them unsliced so that you can have the slices as thick or as thin as you desire.

Our loaves are a little different from your standard loaf of bread, but we like being different at Elocin Foods – it's a special way to be. We are making Tank Loaves, which are round instead of square.

The following varieties of bread are made using dough of breads we already make, so we know that they are popular flavours.

• Milky White Tank – this is made from our Pita Bread dough. Our Pita Bread would have to be our most popular product, lovely tasty bread thanks to the milk and egg.
• Bit of Buck Tank – I have never been much of a white bread girl so this is the loaf for me. It contains a bit of buckwheat to give it a bit of colour and a lovely nuttiness in flavour. It is dairy free, but it does contain egg.
• Fruity Tank - a re-vamp of our very popular Fruit Buns. Perfect for fruit toast, easy to slice and pop in the toaster. I love mine slathered with lashings of butter - bad for the waistline but oh so tasty.
